Self Hypnosis: the Path to Self
Improvement
Practicing self hypnosis is an excellent way to connect with one's inner self, to improve areas found lacking in
your life and to maximize your real potential, often hidden deep within. Once you have picked up the basic
techniques, you can practice self hypnosis within the comfort of your own home. It won't cost you anything to learn
about it -- the internet being what it is nowadays -- and it certainly won't hurt to try it out. Self hypnosis is
worth a look at the very least. Actually, since there is no such thing as an industry standard for self hypnosis,
there's not really just one way to do it. You just need a quiet place to get started.
Find your comfort zone
You should make yourself as comfortable as possible. That might mean sitting in a comfortable chair in a quiet
room, laying down in bed, or even in a meditative position on the floor itself -- whatever works for you is the
best option. Make sure your clothes are as loosely fitting as possible and all distractions have been eliminated.
Just find a place where you will be able to keep totally still for fifteen or twenty minutes without shifting
around or becoming antsy. You are clearing the path for self hypnosis.
Let Go of All Tension
There are many ways to get comfortable for self hypnosis, and each person should try to find the one best suited
for his/her personality. Breathing very deeply is an effective, often-used method. However, total silence is
essential so you do not break your concentration. In this respect a room on the street will not work, nor will the
early evening hours if you are about to have dinner with your family. Even a nagging dog can break your
concentration. Maybe you will prefer listening to music or finding a place with a constant "white noise." Even
wearing headphones -- the absence of noise -- is a good technique. Whatever you do, get completely relaxed and coax
yourself into a semi-conscious state.
Once You're Comfortable
Having achieved this state of self hypnosis, it is time to focus on all the areas of your life you would like to
see changed. Imagine a life where all your dreams have the chance of becoming reality. There is no wrong way of
practicing self hypnosis. Your mind and body will naturally gravitate to areas of concern, from areas of physical
discomfort to areas of mental strain, and you will find yourself pulled into this state of self hypnosis.
If you have relaxed completely, blocked out all distractions and conscious thought, you will have succeeded.
Practice self hypnosis often enough and you'll find yourself capable of meeting challenges head-on and connecting
deeply with your inner self, the self that lies waiting for you to bring out on a daily basis.
